place and route basic pdf

Hi all
Can any one give me the docs which explains very basic fundamentals on place and route(specially on routing, about metal layers and all ).
I am unable to get the docs on fundamentals concepts

1) It is best to use the tool document. Normally they give very description of subject (using related commands)
2) For basics of floor planning and power routing and routing in general, try this book. It is very information on these topics (Last few chapters)

As am planning to do a project on ASIC flow,

can u me any synthesyable verilog code of any processor or controller that helps for my project, pls let me know...
