Ideas to implement in a intelligent home project

I am planning for a project related to intellegent home (smart home); so if any body can suggest me with any kind of idea (what so ever CraZy that may be) that can be implemented in the project.

Feel free to give suggestions

Maybe implement a wireless mesh network with something like zigbee and use a colour touch screen as the central controller of the system, maybe even use XML to overly the blueprint of the house and the location of the various sensor nodes?

I would say sensor controlled lighting for all rooms.

I will say:


- Central control of the system on the main bedroom, and if possible to have a terminal in other room
- Motion sensor on each room to determine if a light has to be turned off controlled by the system, with notification from the central control
- Alarm system connected to the central control
- Remote control from car, so when you approach home the alarm will be disarmed, lights you need and/or A.C. system will turn on automatically
