Hi,

I have a problem with my PC, and i suggested that it's due to MB failure to read RAMs, as i changed my RAMs with my-friend's, and the same problem was there..
The problem is when i swich PC ON, monitor doesn't respond, and instead a streem of "beebs" comes out from MB speaker..
I went to computer-mall looking for a solution, the man there put a PCI tester, and told me that the error is due toRAM and/or BIOS!!, and said i have to "charge" the BIOS!, anyway, unfortunately, he doesn't know how to charge my MB BIOS (MSI MB), and hence, it's still dead :(

Did anyone deal with BIOS issue before? Or know where may I find a solution for my problem? Will I nead the MB CD for BIOS??

Any comment will be appreciated...
Thanks in advance,
Ahmad,

reinstall ur OS and it should work

What are you saying?!!!! Are u joking??? :|
I said the PC doesn't open at all!!! the montior doesn't open or even give anything!!
How to install an OS!!...

Anyother comment?
Thanks,
Ahmad,

Listen to the beeps nad find what it means - depend on the BIOS (Award, Phoenix, etc)
Search in Google for "bios beeps" - it will tell you what is bad.

servicemann, Thank you ..

This is my MB (MSI 648 MAX HT Ready)
http://www.hothardware.com/viewarticle.aspx?articleid=130&cid=3

And this is its BIOS (AMI BIOS)
**broken link removed**

But i couldn't find how to install if the PC doesn't boot! i.e. doesn't open! i don't know if this is the right expression!

Regarding beeps, i hear stream of 4-short-beeps!! and regarding to this topic:
http://www.bioscentral.com/beepcodes/amibeep.htm ,
It's not a BIOS problem!! So, what did the guys in the PC mall said??!!! :(

Another thing, I found somewhere that i can load BIOS via bootable floppy disk.. but, the problem is I don't have a floppy-disk drive (I have a USB floppy, but am not sure if it can let it boot from or not)..

Anyway, do u have an idea about steps to install BIOS! I don't have good experience regarding that in fact! However, I hope to get such experience!..

Thanks and Regards,
Ahmad,

AMI BIOS:

4 beeps Timer not operational

the BIOS "might" be Ok. If you cold boot, nothing appears in yer monitor?

If you get beep errors, you should try to think what happened right before they started. Did you add a new piece of hardware? If so, it might be faulty or not installed right. Remove it, then try again. If everything is fine without the hardware, try to reinstall and configure the hardware again. If that does not help, try exchanging it and see if that corrects the problem. If the error persists, narrow it down systematically. Remove everything but the CPU, memory, keyboard, and video card, then boot again. Does the error still occur? If not, then add one piece of hardware and try again. Repeat until one new component causes the error and you now know who the culprit is. If yes, then reseat your CPU, memory and video card and try again. If the error still happens, try replacing the CPU, video card and memory one by one to see if one of them is the troublemaker. If that does not help, you could have a bad motherboard. Check the motherboard carefully for any signs of damage. Also check for shorts, a metallic object could have found its way onto the motherboard, or the motherboard is not installed correctly and touches the case somewhere.

I didn't install any new hardware..

I can't see anything on monitor.. it even doesn't open!!

Nothing shows any sort of hardware or hazard damage, no short happened.. the only thing happened before it stops that i remember is I changed the HDD jumper to be single/master rather than it was slave.. it didn't open after that! Even after returning it back to its previous state, no responce!!

I tried to remove it and run, didn't boot also!!

I tried to replace RAM, Video card, but in fact, i didn't try to replace the CPU..

I may try to replace the CPU today and see what will happen.

Thank you..
Ahmad,

4 short beeps mean System timer failure.
The system clock/timer IC has failed or there is a memory error in the first bank of memory.

Can you enter into the BIOS settings? Usually press Delete or F2 on keyboard during booting. I you can, load the default BIOS settings.
If not, un-plug power cord from wall (yes physically), remove CMOS battery from motherboard a shunt the contacts on the board for a while. Put back the battery and boot.

hi ahmad,
have you treid to boot with older simple pci-vga card not AGP,
without any components, only vga card?
also your mainboard support bios recovery but you must have
flopy disk !

search for 648 MAX HT at:

privan

Thank you all for participation..

I got my computer again to the technical-support at computer mall, and the guy there fixed the problem..
He said that the BIOS was deleted due to a virus!!
Anyway, I brought my MB BIOS to him on a Flash, he charged it

But, unfortunately, he refused to tell me how did he do it! He said that it's a work secret :)

Does anyone knows how to charge the BIOS of AMI BIOS type in a similar case to mine .. i.e. the MB is absoloutly dead and can't boot to enter BIOS setup from it?

Thanks,
Ahmad,

hi Ahmad
well my friend , that's easy to be done if u have a chip programmer with multi package adapters like willem programmer :

https://www.willem.org/
and also has the correct bios dump file ( .bin) file , just will earse the old bios chip and reprogram it using the correct .bin file .
other way is using hot flashing but this needs one that have another working mobo with the same chip package , and the correct bios software and a program to flash the bios under windows system .
it's not a secret but the programmer used for that with multi chip adapter is very expensive , but it's the easiest and safest way .
hope this helps to clear the mistry ;)
Kind Regards
