i am studying design of flash adc,but many people tell me that flash adc seldom used in product because it has low resolution.
pipeline and sar adc are used more often,is that true?

how should i study to fit the necessary?

thanks

flash adc used little than pipeline and sar
but flash adc can work very fast, giga-hz sample rate
read-channel chip need 6bit giga-hz flash adc.
you can learn flash adc firstly and design a pipeline or sar adc. it's helpful

Tuza2000,
For a given price:
~
Flash ADCs are the fastest, but, as you stated, have lowest resolution.
SARs are slower than Flash, but have higher resolution (e.g., 16 bits) than Flash.
Delta-Sigmas are the slowest, but can give very high (e.g., 24 bit) resolution.

Krasl
