a question about PCI Express evaluation board

pci express evaluation board

I make a PCI Express evaluation board using intel 41210. It can not work normally.It is working in 4 lanes or sometimes working in 1 lanes. I don't know what's wrong with it.
 

From your comment, some unreliable parameter cause PCIexpress Link Traning
process fail at 8x mode, so i41210 down to 1X

I want to read the registers of error reports. But I don't know how to do it.

2 method:<1>By SMbus interface <2>By Host Configurate S/W to read PCIe Configration value

oh, sometimes, PCIexpress Analyzer is a very useful debug tool

and, can u tell me what S/W can read PCIe Configration value ? Read the Configration value in mainboard or 41210?
