I need to control washing machine's water solenoid using a simple relay. Now, since solenoids are same as inductors, I believe it will make some spikes when relay is off and can cause sparks. But since it's AC Solenoid, how do suppose to put a fly back diode at solenoid's ends?
I have put a diode on signal side of relay as safety but what about at switching side of relay?
I also measured the current, it takes 23mA and it looks like this.
