What's the difference of Track-and-hold and Sample-and-hold?

i'm confused with these two terms. Anyone can help me figure it out?

Hi
Track and Hold - is very different from Sample and Hold:
Track& Hold - the output reflects the input- until indicates to HOLD information - than the output is not changed until the HOLD is released.

Sample&Hold - The output is allways the outcome of a Sample operation - no tracking function

Hope its what you'd expected

I've heard that the phase response of these two circuitry is quite different.

So, for S/H, the output will be zero in each sample phase while track/hold will not. right?

Sample & Hold will get a staircase waveform.
For an ideal Track&Hold system, when tracking cycle approaches zero, we get S/H.
