Hello,

I am building a sound following robot.obstacle avoidance. I want an obstacle avoidance system.
I have read threads encouraging to use the ultrasonic sensor.
Doesnt that sensor influence the sound in the environment. Also isnt that sensor used just to measure far obstacles?
Is there a better system that measures 90degree angle?
Some of my colleagues used infrared or something but it didnt give them proper results,
please I need ideas and they better be good ones :p

Best

No distance does not matter only a surface that reflects UV whether near or Far is of importance

And US don't interfere much with sound if the sensitivity of the mic is not more than 20K most commonly mic have a sensitivity range upto 16 K or 18K so no worries about this

So as I understand from your evaluation, US is best there is? Can I have it sense in a 90degree infront of the robot? Ill try to get the output in range of 0-5 to get it as a logic input in the circuit

Yup no issues the placement of the transmitter can allow you to have a range of sight the whole area can be sensed easily with the help of 2 transmitters most efficiently I guess

But this range thing is not a field of my interest so I have limited knowledge in it
