Current genrated by windpower and solar which can be more under same circumstance

Re: Current genrated by windpower

Today wind power is more efficient, but in the future if technology improve could be in the other way.

Re: Current genrated by windpower

How can you compare "same circumstance" when the two are completely different.

As a rule of thumb, the more dense the flow material is, the more power it can generate. Photons have very low density and PV panels are relatively inefficient, Wind is medium density and can produce much more power, water is even more dense and can produce even more power. The dimensions of the capturing surface make a huge difference to all these sources.

Re: Current genrated by windpower

Betwixt says nicely thise two are not comparable.

Solar need light to work, that means at night nothing, and wind generator can give power all day, but depends from wind. Size, amount of power, price, .... all should be taken in consideration.

Current genrated by windpower and solar which can be more under same circumstance

each have different working principles and so they can not be compared directly

we will have to wait atleast few years for getting convincing energy from solar power

Of course you can compare them. Both produce energy, more or less efficient. For the future I will bet more on the sun than on the wind.

agreed with tpetar in this issue cause if i consider CSP system in sertain temperature they have higher power op and wind till date uses farms to harvest power

check this out for CSP system

without specifying criteria it is hard to compare my pal

These two are not comparable. Choosing the right one concern many factors such as geographic, local government incentives apart from R&D efforts. Currently wind energy is growing fast, however, some regions are not fortunate to have enough wind speed due to their geography. For my point of view, solar could be promising in equatorial regions whereas the wind can prosper on Northern countries where they can harvest quite substantial amount of energy from wind.

The argument here isn't over which is more efficient, that will change as technologies improve in both solar and wind energy, it's over how you compare them "under the same circumstance". The criteria for the two sources is so different that they can't be compared.

Take my situation as an example, I live in a valley, surrounded by mountains and almost completely sheltered from the wind. Even when a violent storm hits my area, barely a leaf moves here so wind energy is most definately not an option (I wish it was!). However, I have a 65kW solar array which works very nicely in the sunshine. I'm fortunate enough to face south down the valley with a wide view of the Sun's path durg the day. So solar is by far the best option here. If I moved a few Km north to the other side of the mountain, the situation would be reversed, I would be in shadow all day and be hit by Atlantic winds.

Without defineing "circumstance" the original question means nothing.

wind farms are not suitable in areas which have very poor arid atmos

whereas there is no such limitation in the solar power plant

note: you cant construct a solar plant in siberia and say it has a loss no point unless the qn is rephrased
