Hi All ,

I 'd like to have a hyperlink in schematic (Altium designer 9) which when I click on it an excel file would be opened
How could I do that ?

Thanks in advanced

I'm not sure that you can do this? I'd love to know how if you can.

You can place hyperlinks into parts, we do it using a DB lib although your excel spread sheet may not be relevant to a component.

You can also copy and past excel sheets into Altium Schematic but this isn't idea either. I'll post it up on the Altium forum and see if there's a way if not I'll put in a feature request.

After a little investigation on the Altium Forum it turns out you can do it. By placing a parameter set - Place --> Directive --> Parameter Set. You then need to double click the new parameter set to bring up the properties. Click 'Add...' - under 'Name' you want to type 'HelpURL' and under 'Value' type the URL of your excel file.

To get access to the file you have to click the paramater and then press F1 your excel sheet will now load up.

Thanks I've learned something too.
Chris.

"ComponentLink1Description" and "ComponentLink1URL" are also parameters that can be added to the parts. IF you want to call them up, simply right click on the part and select "References" and it will show you the link.
Replace 1 with 2, 3 and so on for multiple links. This can also be used for local or network links.

Hi again ,
Sorry , I didn’t have the opportunity to come here for some reasons
I checked both of these replies , both of them were correct , at first I got some problems with them but finally I could open Google & G:\WordDocument.docx
What was a little bit confusing for me :
1- I used some name else instead of HelpURL , ComponentLink1Description and ComponentLink1URL , And didn’t get these names would mean for Altium , I pressed F1 and other helps got open
2- ComponentLink1Description is the name of the reference which it’s URL is supposed to be opened
The replies were great
Thanks my friends
