    Ultiboard Bus is disabled

Hi all, I am using Ultiboard 11.0 to draw a layout for my circuit. I am a novice in Ultiboard. When I try to place wire, sometimes, the cross(X) is not appearing when i bring the cursor near the lead. I tried hard to resolve the issue but did not work. Moreover, i noted that the Bus under the...

calculating Q of an antenna from simulation results

Hi all, Is it possible to find the Q of an antenna from simulation results(done in HFSS) withot actually doing the experiment? Regards MP

plotting the gain as polar plot in HFSS

Hi all, How do we plot the radiation pattern of an antenna at a particular frequency, in azimuthal directions in HFSS? I need that polar plot like diagram. I mean, i dont want the 3D view, but 2D view Please help me, its a bit urgent

Bandwidth requirement of Ultra Wideband Antenna

Hi all, The bandwidth allocated for ultra wide band radios is 3.1-10.6 GHz. My question is, is it necessary for an antenna in a device that operates within this band should be able to cover whole of this band? Regards MP

Good book on microwave concepts needed

Which is the best book from which I can get conceptual idea about cavity and dielectric resonators, klystron magnetron and TWT??? I have books Pozar and R E Collin and S Y Liao with me. Is there any better book?

expression of Q of an antenna with very low values

Hi all, I am having a doubt regarding finding Q of antenna. The classical expression on antenna Q, as the ratio of resonant frequency and band width is based upon, viewing antenna as a resonant circuit. But in a paper I read, 'Fundamental limitation of antennas' by RC Hansen, it says, this...

    Ground plane of antenna

Dear brothers, what is meant by ground plane of an antenna, with reference to planar antennas? Why do we need them? I saw that in planar antennas, ground plane is used in connection with feeding the structure. As the signal flows sufficiently deep into the structure, the ground plane is...

    Impedance transformation of antenna

Hi all, What does impedance transformation mean with regards to antenna? Is this transforming the input impedance(Z11) of an antenna to the desired value? Can an L section using lumped components manipulate the resonant frequency of an antenna? Regards, Vineeth

    [SOLVED] exciting a planar antenna

You are true. The image which I added was one during the course of my design of the model. I reduced the thickness later, which now has a substrate thickness of 1mm and structure thickness of 0.02mm. I tried the wave port excitation as you said. But it results in some error, the report is copied...

What do you mean by excite in side of antenna? can you tell me with regards to the image i attached?

    [SOLVED] exciting a planar antenna

Thank you for your interest... The antenna which I am modelling is an ultra wide band(UWB) radio antenna. The actual antenna is fed by PSF301 SMA connector. Is that what you mean by the question of type of feed?

    [SOLVED] exciting a planar antenna

Hi all, I have a planar antenna structure modeled in HFSS. The ground plane of the antenna structure lies in the same plane as that of the structure. I dont know how to excite the structure. I don't know which excitation to be employed. I got error when I tried wave port excitation and...

Why is base current not what it should be?

The equation which you used is accurate when the transistor is operating in active region. I mean, the current gain or beta value of a transistor at saturation region is different from that at active region, which is less than the former. It means, you cannot put the value as 270, but a lower...

    monopole antenna return loss

Hi all, i am attaching a S11 Vs frequency plot of microstrip monopole antenna. The pot shows different S11 curves as you vary the patch width from 10mm to 38mm. My question is, why the first resonance dip is happening at a constant frequency whereas the second goes on shifting?

failed to run emGine on Windows8 Pro

Hi all, please help me. I could not run emGine successfully on Windows 8 Pro. I tried the compatibility mode too, but failed. I dont know what happens, but the system tries to open it and stops everything. And my system pretends like i never asked it to run the software..!!! I cannot move even...
