may i knw for what purpose ur doing this bcz if u want to do it .u need to understand ur alarm device schematic after that select one basic microcontroller and one GSM module but if u tell me ur application means i can help u clearly.....than

1) how can I convert this serial data to usb to hook up to my pc ? and would i need to write my own device driver?
Ans:so for ur application u need to select microcontroller which suport UART and internal USB driver there are lot of manufacturer so...
do one thing first start to study about that sensor,tx,rx,and microcontroller (hardwere,softwere)k then u ll get some knowledge then u tried to do your self (just imagine and do it k) then u ask others for help bcz i faced same problem...
one more thing when i connected external ADC input (load cell sensor) source the last digit getting fluctuating and i tried in 12 and 16 bit also .as of my thinking y it is getting is when the mc busy with some other tasks (digital switching) with analog switching (ADC) at that time it may occur...

Hello,
In our project we are using Freescale controller with inbuilt 16bit ADC (Vref 3.3v) but when configured to 16 or 12 bit mode i m getting noise so, plz suggest me whats the problem ???
