Re: antenna measurement
As long as you use a network analyzer, you don't need a directional coupler,
because the vector network analyzer already contains directional coupler(s).
Abhishekabs uses a spectrum analyzer with tracking generator, and by the
addition of a directional coupler he made a...
Agilent sells very nice piece of equipment.
Look for E5052 or older model 4352B.
Very expensive. $81K.
But you can perform a rough measurement with ordinary test
equipment. Have you tried to tune the VCO by a lab power supply?

A balanced modulator or multiplier can be used to double the frequency. Another way is generate a lot of harmonics, and use resonant circuit (or filter) to obtain desired frequency which is integer multiple of the input.

There are many factors.
1. Fabrication capability
Smaller spacing will be more expensive to manufacture, and each PCB manufacturer has some limits of their own.
2. Soldering
You will also have to consider your capability of soldering fine pattern PCB.
3. Safety
If the voltage between traces is...
I have not heard of "frequency analyzer" before. I presume you are referring to spectrum analyzer, which shows spectral content of input signal. It will show how much harmonic contents the signal has, and also show non-harmonic spurious signals. What is your interested frequency range? Then, I...
It appears you are working on a relatively low frequency, say, less than 1MHz, as you are applying square wave signal. If this is the case I would not recommend a spectrum analyzer for trouble shooting, instead ordinary oscilloscope is a better choice to understand what is going on. And I would...
balance amplifier
I would recommend the following books:
David M. Pozar: Microwave Engineering,
Vendelin, Pavio and Rohde: Microwave Circuit Design using Linear and
Nonlinear Techniques.
Balanced amplifiers are covered in detail, but push-pull is not.
Probably push-pull is not very popular...
ferrite 50 hz current transformer
Ziau...
As I said earlier, please be specific.
What kind of current level are you trying to measure?
Are you looking for 1 to 3A? Or 100A?
As you are talking about UPS, I assume the voltage level is a few hundred
volts, for which insulation may not be big...
smps diagram
I recommend you to check the data sheet and application notes available for the control IC 3842. The reason that I did not spell UC3842 is there are many manufacturers who make these. Search for example MC3842.
This is very popular current mode controller, and there should be many...
Re: De-coupling caps
popoyboys,
You raised a good question, as some people got confused and use them interchangeably. To be strict, bypass capacitors are those used in parallel with emitter bias resistor, for example. Emitter bias resistor is usually part of the dc bias scheme and provides...
