Hi,
I have bought a new UPS which i will be using only 3-6 times in a year. This is to be used with a pc which will only be used on the field to control some automation. The rest of the time the PC will just be shelved in storage. Now that means almost 3-4 months of just being in storage. If i...
Hi,
I need some help. I need to understand which batteries are best to buy for off camera strobe flash units. The flash manufacturer suggests using alkaline or NiMh batteries for the flash. These flashes are mighty power suckers as you all know.
One option was sanyo eneloop batteries. They are...
Hi,
1. What if its not sitting for months at end. Maybe Just a month or 2 and then fully charged.
2. From what i understand about what you said. I think its better not to discharge the battery but better to just top it up once in a month ? If so how do i know how long to leave it in...just...
But what if an emergency light isnt always plugged into the wall socket. I mean its fully charged but then stowed away for emergency use. Then used ocassionally (twice a month) for maybe 30 mins.
Is this kind of usage ok ? Or does this usage pattern of Lead Acid Batteries qualify for battery...
Hi Audioguru,
So I think im safe with just using these radios and not bothering about battery conditioning etc since im going to use them approximately once a week or at least 3 times a month. If im not going to, maybe during the vacation months, then i will fully charge them and shelve them...
Hi Guru,
Thanks a lot for your help. I only didnt understand answer 1. My question was when the radio beeps a low battery alert. It must be switched off and charged asap ? Or a drained battery can be left for a few days before recharging without damage to the battery ?
Thanks
Hi,
I have categorised my questions into basic categories of doubt. Would be great if you can just answer quoting the point no. This will ensure i get all my answers for each doubt that i have. :)
1. It doesnt have a clock or any function on it. It a very simple type of professional radio...
Dear Audioguru,
But how can a normal layman who doesnt have an electronics background understand all this. Its so technical. Im mainly interested in maintaining my batteries properly but dont have much tech knowledge. The radios which i have have no markings on the battery giving the company...
But how do i know how many cells are in my battery. It looks like one plastic square block. With everything sealed and is supposed to be maintenance free. It has just two small terminal plates emanating from within the battery.
Just one more thing to clarify. So when a battery is fully charged it attains its voltage (which can be seen in a multimeter) as 12v if its 12v battery or it usually is supposed to show more. Then as it is used it keeps on supplying 12v dc and at anytime that its considered delivering power ...
Hmm there cant be a mistake in the manual because they clearly state that its a LI-Poly (which is the actual type of battery in the radio) and that it should be maintained this way for best performance.
I think the best way to keep batteries active is by using them a lot hmmmm :)
But...
They always run in an aircon room. So the temperature part is not an issue i assume.
So its better to leave the power wall socket on (thereby supplying power to the UPS 24/7) but the ups output/operation switch can be off. I think my ups should be in charging state even of the output power...
Hi,
But the radios say they are li-poly batteries. Ofcourse the radios are extremely light for a pro 2 way radio. Its a lithium polymer battery as the manual mentions. Now if its a lithium battery, why does the manual say if not used for more than 2 months to completely charge and discharge...
I dont know if my battery is the lead acid type. Its like a hard plasticine thing. Fully sealed. And just two metal plate terminals peeping out.
Snafflekid > I dont understand how one could never let these batteries go under 50% charge ? First off theres no way of immediately telling how much...
