I'm employing a Sin, Cos, Atan2 construct to "average" a group of phase angle integers.
The equation works in Excel, but is generating a grossly incorrect result in the DsPic C30 compiler.
Tried using the "Q16" tricks from Microchip.
I'm stuck, Anybody have an example how to do this?
I've been using Protel/Altium for 15 years for work and home, but will soon have no access to these tools any longer. The full Altium suite is way too expensive nowadays to buy for home use, so I am evaluating other packages.
I'm pleasantly surprised with how useable EASY-PC, DIPTRACE, and...
Need a clever simple little circuit to generate a brief rectangular pulse, each cycle of a sine wave. Also need to be able to sweep the point at which this pulse starts (width can be fixed), on sine waves ranging between 5Hz and 50Hz.
Can anyone direct me to such a circuit?
oscilloscope screen
I want to capture screen dumps from my old (monochrome) Tektronix TDS220.
It has a serial port, but I can't conveniently have a laptop available for capturing each screen "print". I'm capturing flight data in a two seat aircraft, and there's simply no room for the scope...
thermocouple automotive
Update:
The thermocouples described above all worked OK with two sets of circuits, in my embedded engine monitoring system, despite the sensor being grounded at the tip.
Four thermocouples were connected to a PIC processor via discrete amplifiers, and four were...
thermocouples
Oh, they're grounded all right. About 2 ohms between either wire and the threads of the stainless steel plug.
I wouldv'e thought they'd be electrically insulated as you describe, until I purchased and measured some.
automotive thermocouples
K-type thermocouples are commonly used for exhaust gas (EGT) and cylinder head (CHT) temperature monitoring in automotive and aviation applications. The sensors are commonly "grounded" at the thermocouple junction, through the screw-in plug (EGT) and spark plug ring...

For sinewave generation:
MSLOSC from MSI
For square wave generation:
Linear Technology LTC6903 & LTC6904
All are small serially programmable chips.
shot duration
There appears to be a wide variation in available pulse-stretching duration in the 74HCT123 one-shot (monostable multivibrator) devices.
The one I have on hand (Texas Instrument) will provide no more than 120mS, and I need up to 2 seconds.
Some datasheets are ambiguous and some...
I'm designing a little data logger to capture accelerometer data from rotating machinery.
The object is to write the data to a high speed serial eeprom, after (or during) each A/D capture, for subsequent analysis after adequate data samples have been acquired.
The CPU is a DsPIC30F6012 (12-bit...
Specific FFT application
Can someone describe, or point me to literature that describes the specific FFT usage for dynamic balance measurement, such as used on aircraft propeller balancers? Such instruments take low-level signals from an accelerometer and a 1-per-revolution strobe, and report...
