How to get good isolated / idiot proof 9VDC supply from +/-15VDC rails?

So I have a modular synthesizer with a +/-15VDC power supply and I'd like to power something (guitar effects pedal) that requires 9VDC. I was initially planning to just use a 7809 off the +15 rail to get my 9V power supply, but realized that several of my pedals actually ground the positive...

    How to motorize a potentiometer?

Does anybody have any ideas for how to motorize a potentiometer? Bourns makes a motorized pot ( https://www.bourns.com/ProAudio.aspx?name=pamm see PRM16), but it can only handle .1W. I'd like to have a motorized pot that can handle .5W, so I'm wondering if the only solution is to "roll my...

12VDC motor exceeding power supply on startup

Hey everyone, I'm using a 12V DC fan (car radiator fan) rated at 80W as a window fan, powering it with a 100W SMPS ( https://www.digikey.ca/product-search/en?x=23&y=16&lang=en&site=ca&KeyWords=1145-1070-ND+). About 50% of the time, the fan starts up fine. The other 50% of the time, the fan spins...

SMPS - help me add extra filtering to reduce ripple/noise

If I split a 30V single supply, I'd still need to filter it. I'm also noticing that external SMPS outputting 30V (or 32V as shown in your zener regulated schematic) aren't easily available, which is really important.

SMPS - help me add extra filtering to reduce ripple/noise

Thanks for the reply Brad, Sorry if it was confusing. You're right, I'm trying to use a single output external SMPS wall wart going into the encapsulated dual output SMPS which would be inside the unit. If you don't mind, can you explain to me how you determined the values for the capacitor and...

SMPS - help me add extra filtering to reduce ripple/noise

Hi Brad, no I do not have an existing positive supply.

SMPS - help me add extra filtering to reduce ripple/noise

Hi everyone, long time lurker here and first time poster. I'm working on an audio project where I need a split power supply (+/- 15V) and I need to use a SMPS in this case. I'm not comfortable designing my own split SMPS, and I've noticed that there are several encapsulated board mount DC-DC...
