Why RTL version of IP core is more expensive, then Netlist ?
What can be done with RTL version of IP core, that cannot be done with Netlist version of IP core?

did u read ASIC design by M.J smith .
ip has two type soft and hard ipcores
basically if they(vendor) give soft(rtl version) ipcores then u can have a right to place then blocks or modules inside the ipcore where ever u want in the chip and u can use any module for another purpose also.
but if vendor give hard ipcores u cant do anything with that core
simply u can place as a block(sqaure, rectu, etc).
u cant split it .
this knowledge i know.
please add more command in that post .
if any wrong in my post please pardon me.
thanks

Re: Why RTL version of IP core is more expensive, then Netli

if you have RTL version IP, then you can add extra

function on IP, if you have only netlist,

perhaps you only can use it, you can't change

it to fit your application freely.

and for RTL IP, backend process will be smoothly.

such as SYN and clock tree generation.

best regards

I think the price from low to high as following : Hard Macro IP , Netlist Soft Macro IP, RTL Soft Macro IP.
Because the size and process can't be different from the Hard Macro IP.
Netlist IP's size can be changed to fit your need, but the process can't be.
You can what you want to do with RTL IP.You can optimize it as your new version RTL module. You can synthesis with any foundry's any process as your STA,simulation are OK.
