Hi why do we have poly endcap ?

What would happen if we do not provide proper endcap ?

Is it due to etching variations ? how would it affect the behavior of device ?

Thanks...

Re: Poly endcap ?

Please be more precise!

The meaning in the context of AnalogIC Design could be

1. Implant around the polycontact at the end of the poly resistor
2. Lefthand side or righthand side capacitor in a double-pi parasitic cap model

Which do you mean?

Re: Poly endcap ?

to guarantee poly gate can control the field.

Re: Poly endcap ?

Just use OPC to do it correctly.

If there is no endcap, due to litho effect, it will print a bit smaller than the size on the reticle

Re: Poly endcap ?

If poly end cap is not there for a Mos transistor, the drain and source may get short due to improper etching.

Re: Poly endcap ?

if no endcap, the real channel W will become smaller, cause device mismatch
