What will be the directions of 100 pins in a chip during shift mode?

If a chip as say 100 pins,,, during shift mode,, what will be the directions of theses pins???

Input pad as input, output pad as output, in general.

i think this applies only to bidi pins , bidi pins should be set to i/p
 

DFT

You set some input pin as scan_in, and output pin as scan_out.
