Re: What CAD does better?

Power pcb is best for general circuit.

Re: What CAD does better?

It depends on what features you're focussing on

Re: What CAD does better?

Hi
Well u have to be very specific .... There are alot of mentor softwares for PCB like powerPCB, expedition and Board station....
your question is v subjective as different software have different advantages...some are lower in price while others have more features...
but btw PowerPCB n expedition looks like PowerPCB is more friendly n flexible

regards
taring

yes traing77
powerpcb is very flexible for the design.
but little bugs. may get fixed on comming versions.
but for routing Specctra is better.
and catpure frm cadence is good for sch drawing .

Re: What CAD does better?

It depends on which purpose and what u really do with it.

I've had oppurtunity to use Cadence Allegro, Mentor Expedition and PowerPCB. And here's a rating I would give for them(out of 10)...

Feature Allegro PowerPCB ExpeditionPCB

GUI 5 7 9
Customizability 10 4 3
Imports & Export 10 7 4
(Netlist,DXF, others)
Gerber Outputs 5 7 9
Constraint settings 8 6 8

There are lots of other factors and most important cost...So no tools in the market seem to be the best, each have their own demerits and merits. we should choose from them as per the requirement.

And most importantly, it is a user's individual preference and practice with a particular tool that really counts.
