is the most use in company ?

Cadence. I would say.

cadence ,synopsys, etc

Then if on pc,synopsy is the most, including it's hspice and mentor has its modelsim.they're very good.

if u mean physical design..on linux platforms its cadence ic ..some other vendors are also used in the flow.(some may prefer avant for place and route)..but cadence is used for layout and verification. On windows pc platforms..tanner is used...

You can also use Tanner Tools for study purpose...
For job application...I prefer better tools!

:p

mentor candenc and snnps etc.

simulation tool and physical assymbling

Cadence here, and some Mentor.

Depend on wha't kind of design on your project

Logic compiler : Synopsys DC , Cadence AMBIT BuildGate, MAGMA..

IC Layout for logic design : Cadence ?? , MAGMA, Apollo ...

IC Layout for full custom Design : Cadence virtuoso , NOVAS's LEO..

Timing Simulation : Mentor Modelsim , Cadence Verilog-XL,NC-Verilog,
Synopsys VCS.....

SPIEC Tool : HSPICE........

Debug & View : NOVAS Debussy

In most semiconductor company:

Circuit design and simulation: Analog Cadence Environment

Behavioral modeling: Synopsys Verilog

also nanosim and hsim
very good for close loop simulations that takes over weeks

i think its HSPICE for DC simulation and Tanner EDA for layout

Now a days companies are quite clever and want to be as productive as they can be.

For this the companies will use the best in league softwares. (At least this is the case with most big companies).

For eg : For front end : Use Synopsys , For anlalog layout : Use Cadence...
for P & R : use Mentor , FOr STA : use Synplicity....so on...

however ,still many companies can be found which are completely using all the softwares for full IC design flow from one vendor. ...

For most phases of design i prefer SYNOPSYS.
