Here is a nice USB programmer for Atmel 89S51,52,8252,8253.

AT89SXX USB Programmer

The said design suffices the need of USB programmer for 89S series. But if the cost fcator is considered, it will be more when compared to other similar programmers commercially available. When we have AT mega8 which can directly communicate with a USB port as it is implimented in USB ASP, we can do such an application here too. A thread for this topic is laready started here. Just have a look. Cheers

I am using kind of similar programmer SmartPro S51. That was really very cheap I think it was around $25.
