It has been a few years sense my last VLSI class and I would like some advice on what to use as a transistor size starting point for a given schematic. I am trying to simulate the input equalizer given in "A 10-Gb/s CML I/O Circuit for Backplane Interconnection in 0.18-µm CMOS Technology" from IEEE Transactions On Very Large Scale Integration (VLSI) Systems, Vol. 17, No. 5, May 2009.
What I am trying to ask is how do you determent an initial starting point for transistor sizes Before going on to optimize the design for your process, sense most articles give schematics without sizes.
Thanks in advance
Jason
