hi sir,
u know that ,i am designing PIFA antenna,
in that in azumithal plane at theta=60deg gain is more when compared at theta=0deg . upto my knowledge which implies that my antenna is receiving the signal strongly at theta=60deg when compared at theta =0deg .again which implies that if suppose iam keeping the antenna at it theta =60deg will receive strongly at theta =0deg . and we know that the mobile signals are at slant 45 deg. so my question is exactly at which angle (i mean theta value) i should place the antenna in principle plane(Y-Z plane) to recieve the signal strongly. and also suggest me why the gain of my antenna is more in theta =60deg ,when compared at theta =0deg . and what are all the corrections i have to make.
herewith iam enclosing my geo .file
with regards
jayanthi

Hi, jayanthi:

Yes. Your antenna is radiating strongest at theta about 50-60 degrees. Why is it radiating the strongest at that angle? It really depends upon how the current distribuning on your structure. It is hard to give any simple explanation. The current is distributing in such a way that the radiation at the angle is the strongest. If you change your antnena configuration, it may change it becaues it will change how the current flows.

For the pattern at theta = 0, it is due to the surface wave along the infinte substrate defined there. If you assume finite substrate, the dip will be gone while the overall shape is still the same. Anyway, for your particular antenna, the radiation is strongest at theta = 50-60 degrees. It is not bad at 45 degree because the beam is quite wide.

Best regards,
