Hello everyone,

I´, trying to understand the mathematical context of a Reflective-Type Phase Shifters with Varactors.

In the Master of Science Thesis ( https://webthesis.biblio.polito.it/8150/1/tesi.pdf )

I don´t understand the equation (2.5 and 2.52). I do not understand how the author comes to the equations. The Reflective Load ist a ideal with the reflection coefficient r = -1, or?

But how do you derive this mathematically?

The second question relates to equation 2.52. I don´t understand
why the reflection coefficient is taken to the square?

I hope you can help me and thank you very much
