I have to print my pcb schematic onto transparent paper, should I print onto rough or on the smooth side?

Re: printing pcb drawing

You should print on the dull, rough side. This is called the "toothed" side, or the "felt" side. The shiny side is called the "wire side.

The ink will dry faster, and will be absorbed better on the "toothed" dull side. Printing on the "wire" side will dry slowly, and is likely to rub off.

Vellum often has a watermark. Normally, if you see the watermark right-side-up you're looking at the side recommended for printing.
