In Viterbi decoding algorithm we use traceback mechanism. To start the traceback, you need to select the node with minimum path metric.
Now question is, what to do if minimum path metric value is available at more than 1 node? From which node shall I start traceback? Is it a random process? Random start misleads the decoding.
