picstart plus, upgrade

Hi, is possible to ERASE internal picstart plus PIC17c44 with UV source (Bromograph?) and download newer version from MPLAB?
(Sorry for english please)

Think that would be pointless - as the new software seems designed for the 18F chip in the PUM.
