Re: pic compiler

Huh, how to tell, which is the best one?

I use Hi-Tech's Picc, although it has ugly - DOS style GUI.

Anyway, whichever C compiler you'll use, this site is worth looking at:

Hi rfmw,
Surly you don't use Hi-Tech's front end?
Much better to use Mplab as a front end, the compiler works just fine with it.

Online books, trainer boards, you name it they have got it.

Comes in 3 flavours: BASIC, Pascal and C.

I hope that this helps.

You should try Microchip C18 Student Edition. It's free!

Re: pic compiler

@btbass

unfortunately, I do use that ugly and oldish Hi-Tech's front end. But I do not use it very often (since my work and hobbies aren't that much in the programming area), so when I need it, I quickly write my code and exit that old beast ;)

Re: pic compiler

If you are a skillful c programmer and have some experience with PICs, you should consider HI-TECH; otherwise you may start with CCS compiler, which has a lot of libraries and ready to use code. Also, it is somehow friendlier than HI-TECH.
