unfortunately, I do use that ugly and oldish Hi-Tech's front end. But I do not use it very often (since my work and hobbies aren't that much in the programming area), so when I need it, I quickly write my code and exit that old beast
If you are a skillful c programmer and have some experience with PICs, you should consider HI-TECH; otherwise you may start with CCS compiler, which has a lot of libraries and ready to use code. Also, it is somehow friendlier than HI-TECH.
