low cost V-Band power detector

Hi everyone,

i need to develop a RF Power Detector working at 61 GHz with signals -50~0 dBm.
I will use the classical structure based on diode and a low-pass filter.
But i'm also considering a transistor based detector.

My main problem is the price that should be cheap... (and without bonding)

I have good experience with the diodes Areoflex Metelics MZBD-9161, but they are too expensive...

Do you have any suggestion/experience?

Thanks, in advance, Francesco

L-band is 61GHz, I am confused.
If 61GHz, I think it should use waveguide strcture.

Ouch...
sorry, yes, V/E-Band...

i cannot use a waveguide structure because it will increase drammatically the price...
We already produced and measured some (completely) passive structure at 77 Ghz, so the technology is not the problem...

anyway in this case we were using a IC for the detection...

Did you never used Microsemi diodes?
I got a reply form the support center with the following products: MS5150 and MS8151...
did you never used these diodes?

Interesting products!
i will now ask for an quote...

@vfone
for cheap i mean the less expensive (of course)

61 ghz requires very low capacitance diodes, often GaAs. Those diodes need hand processing to etch them to incredibly small dimensions, and are therefore high cost.

You might find some CMOS or SiGe process that allows the devices to be made as part of a circuit, but you will need to find someone selling just that part of the circuit to you.

thanks for the reply.
I found via internet W-Band Zero Bias Diode by Virginia Diodes (Flip Chip)!
Are quite cheap for high volumes ($15)!
