Information about power rectification by IGBT

I am looking for more details about power rectification by IGBT and what is the difference between the use of IGBTs and therystors.

IGBTs combines the advantages of bipolar transistors, such as low conduction
losses, with the merits of MOSFETs, such as shorter switching times. They also have high power ratings compared to SCRs.

The simplest answer is --> we can turn either ON or OFF on IGBT but not with thrystor, once it's trigerred ON, then you cannot turn it off unless the anode voltage is lower than it's cathode ...

try to read power electronic books such as "power electronic circuit, devices, and application" (Mohan or Rashid)

sometimes it will be better explanation that thyristor turn off when its current is zero.
