Dear all,

Greetings....

I have to compile a report regarding the IC equipment manufacturing cost for Si based technologies and 3rd/5th group based technologies. By equipment i mean the machines which perform epitaxy, oxidation, photolithography, ion implantaiton and etching. Can anyone help me compile a budgetary analysis of such equipment? Any links or suggestions?

Thanks

Too many undeclared degrees of freedom here. You could get 6" cast-off
equipment for the cost of haulage, or you could mortgage an entire company
for one leading-edge stepper. And then there's the whole "how well do you
negotiate, and who do you know?" aspect.

I've seen a company pick up a whole running fab for nothing but the promise
to pay any cost of site cleanup someday. And I've seen a lot of companies
shed fabs because of the operating cost. It seems to me you have a lot of
work to do, if you want to put sense to the economics.
