how to read from the datalines

am working on LCD hd44780.the data bytes r sent thro' the data lines..how to read these data and give it to another microcontroller..can any one help me out

read mazidi its a good book for this. and has the whole program for lcd interface with microcontroller.which microcontroller u using?
