Hi friends,
I am required to program a Philips 89lv51rd2.
Its my first time with an in circuit programmable controller.
can someone guide me on how to go about it?
i was told i will need my PC parallel port for it......does anyone have any ideas?

Hi nirav1983,

Nothing can be easily than Flash Magic.

Go for it here

Alternatively you can use the genuine Philips **broken link removed** software

Silvio

I can get hold of a programmer for regular Philips controllers. Does it work?
What is the advantage of the in-circuit programmable feature? is it only that i then dont need a programmer?

How do i make a programming board for using WinISP

Re: 89lv51rd2

Hi Nirav1983

The advantage of ISP feature ?

In-System Programming (ISP) is a process whereby a blank device
mounted to a circuit board can be programmed with the end-user
code without the need to remove the device from the circuit board.
Also, a previously programmed device can be erased and
reprogrammed without removal from the circuit board.

Read more about ISP and IAP in application note from Philips:
**broken link removed**
You'll find the minimum hardware requirements, as well.

However, my advice: switch to Flash Magic, more user friendly.

Regards,
Silvio

Re: 89lv51rd2

IAP is a very nice thing. :) You just connect the MC to a serial port, and download hex file, and the MC programs itself. There are downloader software like FlashMagic, but for my project I made my own commandline loader. It is able to load only those portions of code, that changed since the last download.
