Plot the signal, then open the caculator from the wave form window. Click the the signal , then selecte the DFT, then there is a dialog poping up, select the starting time and stopping time, number of points. Thats' it.
Hi ,,,
I want to plot the power spectral density of the voltage signal , so , I use FFT in another sim. and its gave me the frequency spectrum of the signal and the power of each (frequency in X line, power in Y line).
I wnat to do same , but the result of DFT in spectra calculator not clear? I dont understand what itys mean?
help plaese
thanks
Yeah we too face the simillar problem.. DFT is not that clear and we dono how to use it.. Can some one please give some guidance on how to use the DFT option in the calculator in spectre?
Before doing the DFT, we shall do the sampling first. Because the time steps in Spectre is not equal, we have to resample the resulted waveforms and make the time step equal.
I remember in doing the DFT, we shall specify the sample number in every DFT operation. The whole DFT operation is divided by several small DFT operations automatically by the program, based on the total samples in the resulted waveform and the samples you specify.
the procedure to do the DFT in spectre is just as tia_design said, and as to the time span specified in the popup dialog, you should specify one that is integer times of the signal period.

Anybody have a idea how to calculate partial average current of waveforms to be simulated by ADE(analog design environment). Now, we can calculate easily average of all timing data (ex: 0~10us). but I want to calcuate average for 5~10us.
Please, let me know it~~~ ^^;;
