connecting crystal for microchip

Shall I use capacitors as well ?
What about mclr pin? Should it be grounded or left open?
thanks

There are many informations in PIC16f87x's datasheet you can refer.

take care that the improper capacitor value may cause one of two
1-not accurate timer.
2-the controller may not work.
that is according to the difference between the proper and the improper value

to get the proper value
--check the datasheet of the crystal u will use

h**p://www.microchip.com/stellent/idcplgIdcService=SS_GET_PAGE&nodeId=1490&filterID=414
isn't working.
I can't find datasheet for my 32.768khz crystal :(
thanks for all help!

This link work with me: if isn't work go to www.microchip.com -> appl notes -> oscillator
**broken link removed**

If you don't need a very accurate timer you can use this 33pF that will work well, but if not you need know the load for your crystal ....

look in file above the suggestions from Microchip
