Wavelet Order

Hi,

I'm currently doing some reading on the continous wavelet transform and I'm having some confusion here. Can someone please explain how does a wavelet order make a difference to a multi resolution analysis? the daubechies1 , daubechies 2, coiflet1 , etc , all look so alike. How do i know which to use under different circumstances?

Does the shape of a wavelet matters to the pattern we are looking for in a signal?

Thank you
