now i am designing a circuit for an infrared detector.
for simulation in orcad, which kind of source should i put in the infrared detector position for an detected infrared signal?

a pulse current source? or a ac current source? or a dc current? why?

Thanks,

I think that there are some photodiodes or phototransistors in ORCAD libraries (If I remember well, there is the OPTO library). I suggest that you use them. If it is necessary, you can modify the model for your particular part.

How exactly can I modify photodiode or laser in orcad?

well you can use any source type.
if you use 555 timers you can use an ac-source or pulses as i think.
otherwise u can introduce a dc source if you connect the diode to a potential divider.
am working on it i i reacedanything i'll post it

some manufacture present a spice model for their laser diode device ( o.e hitachi) u can use one of these model and modifie their parameter for your own. u can find a such LED / LD model in manufacture websites.
