Help me design a biometric scanner with 8051s

bio metric scanner

hai all
i would like to get help on the following
i would like to design a system which will scan the finger scans
i would like to do this with 8051 processors
do anybody have any experiance on such systems?
if i am using 24512 eeprom,how many numbers of scans i can store
can we provide a battery back up for this system,so that i can take it
anywhere and download the data to the computer at any time.

hai all
it will be useful to get details about the bio metric scanners
let us use any microcontrollers,but doing such projects will help us a lot
because therel's a lot of developments are coming on this subject.
so people wh had experiance in finger print identity may post with their
experiances and suggestions
