suppose we use quadrature mirror filter banks for analysis and decomposition of a signal which will cancel aliasing effect when used with each other.

Now if we manipulate the signal in subbnads (for example for noise reduction) is the reconstructed signal distorted?
is it possible to avoid distorion?
thnx,

Hi
it depends on how u designed the filters in the QMF filter bank

for example you will reach the perfect reconstruction if you use Haar filter
as a base filter or another well designed half-pass filter
Haar LP filter H(z)=1+Z^-1

if you want more details just ask

Can I have a matlab code for Perfect reconstruction?

I have already developed one.

i am beginner with matlab... trying to generate the filter coefficients for a QMF. could you pls send your matlab code to audiophilesg@yahoo.com.sg , hope that i can use your code as a reference to learn further.
