enclosure on at least two opposite sides

When I look at the design rules, I found two different constraints:

Minimum Poly to Contact enclosure on at least two opposite sides (end of line).
Minimum Poly to Contact enclosure.

And the numbers for these two are different. I wish to know what's the meaning of 'two opposite sides'.

Have you information on process and foundry ?
 

The enclosure values may be different depending on if you have only one poly beside source or drain, or if you have two poly structures in parallel (on opposite sides), where you can have two or more contacts per poly, s. this figure: single_vs_opposite_poly.gif
