what differentiates the crystal quartz and the resonator? In which area do they find use in the field of electronics?

Quartz based timing components generally much more accurate than resonators which are
much more accurate than RLC based timing solutions.

Cost xtal >> resonator >> RLC
Accuracy xtal >> resonator >> RLC

Hello,

For such general questions please do an internet serach "crystal vs resonator" on your own before posting.

But you are welcome to ask more detailed questions. Give links to documents/internet sites.

One other comment -

Xtal cost >> Resonator cost >> RLC cost

Xtal jitter << Resonator jitter << RC jitter (generally speaking)

Xtal feq tolerance in the single to double digit ppm
Resonator tolerance in double to triple digit ppm
RLC all over the map
