ColdFire said:Hi All,
I would suggest PIC which comes in many different perperials configurations which in turn give you a lower cost in design. Also if you upgrade your PIC to higher memory, you need not change your hardware pin out.
However I would take manufacturer's lead time for their MCUs as one of the considerations. I heard lead time for Philips and Motorola is very long, so I would not suggest them if you are going to full production your products.

What is PIC clone and who makes it?jhonny_yang said:8051 , PIC clone and Holtek is the cheapest micro i know.
Pic Clone like EPM , and much other i don't remember take look at taiwan electronic magazine.ME said:I have heard many say Holtek is the cheapest 8 bit MCU.
But it all depends on your needs for size, speed, flash, pheripheals etc.
Please be more specific about your needs and how many MCUs you need.
