code coverage hdli

What Tools can do code coverage? And what's the best code coverage tool?

I had try run modelsim, its code coverage feature must run in GUI mode and have a very slow run time .....

primetime and incisive unified simulator are what i know.

Why did u find the modelsim coverage slow?

thanks and regards

Every simulator(VCS of Synopsys, NC-Verilog of Candence, or ModelSim, and so on) includes its code-coverage analysis tool.

Certainly, VN-Cover of TransEDA is a professional tool for code-coverage.

For each code-coverage tool, the simulation speed is slow bacause of the instrument as coverage monitor.

I think all code coverage tools have shell mode, you can read modelsim manual , it should have the shell model to run code coverage. by the way , vn-coverage have working as ncverilog.vcs and modelsim.

i think almost all simulation soft can process code coverage analysis, such as modelsim vcs

I use "ncverilog: 05.10-s006"'s coverage feature, but it display the following infomation:
ncelab: *E,COVOBS: -COVERAGE option is no longer supported. Please use ICT (Incisive Coverage Technology) for code coverage.

to eeeraghu,
compare the simulation with code coverage and without code coverage feature, then I can find the run time difference....

Any comment or comparation of these tools? which
one do you prefer?

-coverage is back in IUS5.5

I think which one prefer is depends on your simulator.

hi, hgby2209

Ye. Cadence uses the ICT in its code coverage checking.
You can use the HDLI and HDLR commands for your coverage checking.

Synopsys Cover Meter.... Now integrated into the VSS

Hi!! AlexWan,
How to use hdli & hdlr, do you have user guide ?

Hi,

You can find the pdf in "ictuser" folder of your LDV install folder.

Or down below.

VCS (Synopsys), NC-Verilog(Candence), ModelSim all include code-coverage analysis tool.

ICT is removed from IUS55, the new coverage tool is called ICC or Incisive Comprehensive Coverage, you can no longer use hdli or hdlr

Hi ,

"HDLScore" from Summit Designs (sd.com), is a powerful code coverage tool which does code coverage.

regards

Arnold,
That's interesting - is it mere a name change or new code coverage engine? Have you used it? What's the use model like?Do they have a new coverage viewer? I don't have NC access to check it out for myself. Thanks in advance.

I had tried the ICT in LDV5.1. I feel it's not easy to use.

Modelsim's code coverage tool is more user friendly, but run time is too slow...

I don't know how VCS is? Could anyone share your experience?

With VCS, you simply add "-cm line+fsm+toggle" (or what ever metric you wanted) to the command line. It works quite well, though I don't have any comparitive figures to say how fast it is. They also have merge facility. Recently they added some thing called URG - Unified Report Generator, idea is to collect code coverage, functional coverage and assertion coverage into one view - sounds great, haven't used it yet though.

Summits HDLScore is a very good tool which is widely accepted D0-254 standard(Mainly for Defense design Flow).

you can log into h***P://www.sd.com****

u can download the datasheet and further details from the website
