Hello everyone,

I am currently working in a OBD project for automobiles
The proposed device has to fetch certain information from the vehicle
In those basic parameter fetch, VIN (Vehicle Information Number) is the most important
I tried with the request "0902" Mode-9 PID-2 (Intended for VIN), but I am receiving "NO DATA" as response
I am confused is there any other PID for fetching the VIN number
Other PIDs like Engine RPM etc are working

Your valuable responses are awaited
Any one who had tried the same before also can share their experiences

Thank you....

As I know, mr. Stalin, OBD-II provide you access only to engine ECU in general, where there are no any individual information stored. Only some basic parameters like speed, rpm and temperature.

Thank you for your kind response
From your answers I came to know that many cars doesn't support VIN number, ok thats really fine
Hence with this I post an other question,
If a car is supporting VIN number, then the PID must be 0902 only or whether it depends upon the protocol or make of the car ?
