hi
my coupler design gave below error. can anybody predict the reason of this error? I attached hfss file.
thanks.

[error] Initial mesh, process mesh3d : Unable to recover all the surface triangles.

hfss error

yes, this kind of error comes from the model setup. I roughly modified ur model, you can proceed the simulation.
My comments:
1. the coupler you didnt specify the material and united, I can not assign material to that, so I assigned PEC to it.
2.Check the frequency, I suspect it will work at such low frequency. I didnt run simulation, just checked the model.

scale3dsettings, error, hfss

hi
I will ask a question:do I have to unite those items? If I do, when I want to change it, it becomes impossible.
I have to use low frequncies, because this coupler is designed for 1.5 tesla MRI machines.

Do you mean parametric simulation? Definitely you can do it in HFSS.
Boolean/subtraction operation sometimes is not necessary, but I prefer to do it, make your model easy to be read.
Don't worry about this operation, I give you an example, two rectangular box connected together, we parameterize the height of them.
1 Draw first box, (x,y,z)(0,0,0) (dx,dy,dz)(10,10,L1)
2 Draw second box (x,y,z)(0,0,L1) (dx,dy,dz)(10,10,L2)
remember, first time you enter this parameter, it will remind you input the initial value of this parameter.
Then you can boolean them, do your parametric simulation.

-5006 hfss install error

basically parametric solution is quite complicated for my design, because, when I want to change the length of the legs, it will affect whole parts. In order to handle this problem, I have to parametrize every parts.:(
sometimes I get another error:

[error] Adaptive solution setup, process abc3d: The ABC boundary 'Rad1' is entirely within the model. Non-physical solutions could result.

Rad1 is my radiation boundary, so, it must contain my model. why does it give this warning?

error on hfss

please provide more information about " Adaptive solution setup, process abc3d", I think the main cause of this error is the planar coupler part in your model.
About the parametric simulation, the process of building the whole model is timeconsuming, But I believe it will work no matter how complex your model is.

I think you shouldn't pareametrized every parts, because it may cosume too much time. I suggest you fix some parametres and parametrized one or two of all.
