To start a motor in star config & then into delta, How should be the windings connect

To start a motor in star configuration & then after some delay into delta, How should be the windings connected at the motor's terminal box (in star configuration or in delta configuration) ? Asking about 3 phase induction motor

Re: To start a motor in star config & then into delta, How should be the windings con

if a delta motor of 15 KW is controlled by a VFD and if we have to change that delta motor by a star motor of same capacity then would we have to change the parameters from the drive ? If do so then what parameters need to be change ?

Re: To start a motor in star config & then into delta, How should be the windings con

this blog post doesn't have that anwers that i'm looking forward to

How should be the windings connected at the motor's terminal box (in star configuration or in delta configuration
Neither of these configurations. All six terminals need to be connected individually, as clearly shown in the circuit linked by srizbf.

Re: To start a motor in star config & then into delta, How should be the windings con

there isn't any circuitry of motor' terminal box or its connections for the 3 sets of coil

Re: To start a motor in star config & then into delta, How should be the windings con

kindly answer my post i.e. post # 2

Re: To start a motor in star config & then into delta, How should be the windings con

The U,V and W windings must be simply connected to a pair of terminals each; a terminal for each end of each winding. No interconnections should be made between the windings as this must be done by the Star-Delta changeover contactor (starter).

It's not related to the present thread. In addition the question isn't clear.

As said, you need 6 wires to connect the motor to the star/delate contactor circuit. The only point of interest is the assignment of motor terminals to windings, which is pretty standard.

Re: To start a motor in star config & then into delta, How should be the windings con

what about the parameters of the drive ? Would they need to be change ?

Re: To start a motor in star config & then into delta, How should be the windings con

The motor should have the same nominal voltage and power, otherwise it possibly can't be used at all. A detailed answer depends on which motor parameters can be configutred with the VFD.

Re: To start a motor in star config & then into delta, How should be the windings con

can you elaborate your answer that is given in the last post FvM please ?

Re: To start a motor in star config & then into delta, How should be the windings con

Instead of speculating about hypothetical cases, I prefer to answer real questions. E.g. I have a motor with this type plate data, can I replace it by a motor with those data etc.

Re: To start a motor in star config & then into delta, How should be the windings con

the motors that are used with star delta configuration are changed with the motors that are only used directly with either in star configuration or directly only in delta configuration ?

what general names they have ?

Re: To start a motor in star config & then into delta, How should be the windings con

A motor must be connected DIRECTLY to a VFD, putting in any switches or fuses will destroy the VFD if operated. A VFD can be programmed to accelerate a motor slowly, keeping the current under control so no start delta switching is required.

Re: To start a motor in star config & then into delta, How should be the windings con

my mean to ask is that the motors which are used for star delta configuration are of what type ?
are they the same AC 3 phase induction motors ?

Re: To start a motor in star config & then into delta, How should be the windings con

They are standard AC 3 phase induction motors with a 6 terminal connection block, as discussed in posts #3 to #9 above.

ok and a motor that can only run with star configuration have how many terminal connection block ?

and a motor that can only run with delta configuration have how many terminal connection block ?

and if a motor has 6 terminal connection block and if we want to use it as only delta motor (with only delta configuration directly) then what to do ?
