helloo!!
i am done with designing a pic16f877a board. now its a blank chip in hand . i want to know that do i need a bootloader if i have a programmer. my question might be wrong ..but this is what i could anticipate after reading some pdf's and articles on bootloader for microcontroller..its really "confusing " me
..SO BASICALLY PLEASE TELL ME WHAT A BOOTLOADER IS:???:

You need a programmer to program a PIC. If you program a bootloader into it then you can subsequently program it through the serial port without a programmer - it self programs. It is useful for remotely upgrading code. It is not essential and adds unnecessary complexity if you don't need it.
