Hi friends,

We are doing a project on 'fast rescue on car accident'.
Our aim is to send accident location immediately via gsm.
We are not familiar with gsm interfacing.we have decided to buy a gsm modem
With RS232 output .but we don't know about the use of at commands.
Can anyone give a little introduction?
We need you guidance throughout the project.

Thanks in advance;

Try the GSM model SM300..
It is a GSM model without GPRS.
You can use SMS control by this.
Just monitor the conditions and when any accident occurs just initiate the AT command for sending an SMS to rescue team. This will do the work..
You can easily interface an RS232 and SM300 with AT89C51.

Thanks Rakesh sir,
I have to interface a gsm modem and gps with the same controller .I had heard about 8051 core ic's with two serial port just like 89c450.is it suitable for my application?.if yes is it available in India?

How about 89S51 or 89S52 costing something around 60-65 IRS. These are in system programmable and the programmers are also common and easy to build and use.

But I have to interface two rs232 devices,I want to do it by one controller ,is there any cheap one is available?

bro, either use a controller having two usart, or (with a bit sacrifice) you may do multiplexing(a bit hectic) and then switching them one by one so as to use that usart only..
89s51/52 has single uart...

I agree with beyondH.., Your project requires the detection of the position (location) of the accident first. After the location is identified switch it to the GSM module and execute the command to inform the rescue team..

you get GSM and GPS integrated in same module. try that. you can also use a relay to switch from GPS to GSM and viceversa if you have only ONE UART port.
