controlling a 500A power source

Hi all,
How can I control an 500A current source with microcontroller ? , later i have to interface with PC , the instrument is from aplab and have continous knob for changing amperes and voltage , as a preliminary , i decide to turn the knob manually and control the on off with a relay , any ideas other than this ?

Did you check if the power supply doesn't expose remote control inputs? State-of-the-art instruments mostly do.

yes , it has , but how can I control with this inputs ?

You would want to connect DACs (digital-analog converters) for the voltage and current setpoints and possibly a digital signal for on-off control. Details depend on the range of setpoint signals (e.g. 0 - 10 V or 0 - 20 mA) and the intended resolution.

The instument has a "+s" , "+" , "E" , "-" , "-s" , so where I have to apply the control voltage ?

Yes , they have supplied a manual , but the manual doesnt contain any idea about the usage of Remote sensing

Remote sense isn't remote control, it's just a means to compensate voltage drops at the cable by sensing the voltage at the load. A remote controllable power supply should have at least terminal pairs for voltage and current setpoint. If your instrument doesn't have it, then it's probably not designed for remote control.

Any other idea to control the instrument ?

I cant figure out till now , that how to control , but I am with the relay or IGBT, please update with any new ideas for how to interface with PC ?

If the instrument doesn't provide remore control options by design, it has to be modified respectively. Without knowing it's design details, we can't suggest a solution.

if i make an external circuit with a mosfet and controlling the mosfets from PC , using any ports , for just turning the circuit on/off , is there any real issue caused by this ?
